🚀 Getting Started

How to Sign Up

  1. Download Illastratum from the App Store
  2. Open the app and tap "Sign Up"
  3. Choose your sign-up method:
    • Sign in with Apple - Quick and secure using your Apple ID
    • Email Sign Up - Create an account with your email address
  4. Create your username (this will be visible to other users)
  5. Set up your profile by adding:
    • Profile picture
    • Bio or description
    • Favorite book genres
  6. Start exploring and connecting with other readers!
💡 Tip: Using "Sign in with Apple" provides enhanced privacy and security, and you won't need to remember another password!

📱 Using the App

Creating Posts

  1. Tap the Create Post button on the home screen
  2. Enter your book title and select the genre
  3. Write your thoughts, review, or quote
  4. Optionally add an image by tapping the camera icon
  5. Tap "Post" to share with your friends

Joining and Creating Groups

  1. Navigate to the Groups tab
  2. To join a group:
    • Search for groups by name or browse recommendations
    • Tap on a group to view details
    • Tap "Join Group" to send a request
  3. To create a group:
    • Tap "Create Group"
    • Choose a unique group name
    • Add a description
    • Set privacy (Public or Private)
    • Upload a group image (optional)
🔒 Understanding Group Privacy:
  • Public Groups: Visible to all users in searches. Anyone can see the group name, description, and member count. Users can request to join.
  • Private Groups: Hidden from general searches. Only appear in search results if you type the EXACT full group name. Perfect for exclusive book clubs or private reading circles. Even when found, only members can see posts and discussions.

Interacting with Posts

  • Like/Dislike: Tap 😊 or 😢 to react to any post
  • Comment: Tap "Comment" to add your thoughts
  • For Group Posts Only:
    • ⬆️ Adds to conversation - The post contributes value to the discussion
    • ⬇️ Detracts from conversation - The post reduces discussion quality
  • Report: Tap ⚠️ to report inappropriate content

Managing Friends

  1. Search for friends using the search bar
  2. Tap on a user's profile to view their information
  3. Tap "Add Friend" to send a friend request
  4. Accept or decline requests in your notifications
  5. View your friends list in the Friends tab

🤖 AI Image Generation with API Keys

Illastratum supports AI-powered image generation for your posts using various providers. You can use your own API keys to generate images.

Supported AI Providers

  • OpenAI DALL-E 3 - High-quality, creative image generation
  • Stable Diffusion - Open-source image generation
  • DeepAI - Fast and affordable image generation

How to Add API Keys

  1. Go to your Profile tab
  2. Tap the settings gear icon
  3. Select "API Keys"
  4. Choose your provider:
    • OpenAI DALL-E
    • Stable Diffusion
    • DeepAI
  5. Enter your API key for that provider
  6. Tap "Save" to store the key securely
🔒 Security: Your API keys are stored securely on your device and are never shared with other users or sent to our servers.

Getting API Keys

  • OpenAI DALL-E:
    1. Visit platform.openai.com
    2. Sign up or log in to your account
    3. Navigate to API keys section
    4. Create a new API key
    5. Copy and save it securely
  • Stable Diffusion:
    1. Visit stablediffusionapi.com
    2. Create an account
    3. Find your API key in dashboard
    4. Copy the key
  • DeepAI:
    1. Visit deepai.org
    2. Sign up for an account
    3. Go to your profile settings
    4. Find and copy your API key

Using AI Image Generation

  1. When creating a post, tap the AI Image button
  2. If you have multiple API keys, select your preferred provider
  3. Enter a description of the image you want to generate
  4. Tap "Generate" and wait for the AI to create your image
  5. Preview the generated image
  6. Tap "Use This Image" to add it to your post
💡 Pro Tips:
  • • Be descriptive in your prompts for better results
  • • Each provider has different strengths - experiment to find your favorite
  • • API usage may incur costs from the provider - check their pricing
  • • You can add multiple API keys and switch between providers

Managing API Keys

  • Update a key: Go to API Keys settings and enter a new key for the provider
  • Remove a key: Clear the key field and tap "Save"
  • Switch providers: Add keys for multiple providers and select which to use when generating
  • Check expiration: The app will notify you if a key expires or has issues
⚠️ Important: Keep your API keys private and never share them with others. If you suspect a key has been compromised, regenerate it immediately through your provider's dashboard.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Common Issues

  • Can't log in:
    • Check your internet connection
    • Verify your email/password
    • Try "Forgot Password" if needed
    • For Apple Sign In issues, check your Apple ID settings
  • Images not loading:
    • Check your internet connection
    • Pull down to refresh the screen
    • Try closing and reopening the app
  • AI image generation fails:
    • Verify your API key is correct
    • Check if you have credits/balance with the provider
    • Try a different prompt or provider
    • Ensure your prompt follows content guidelines
